Analemma Wines | Mosier Valley, Oregon

Founded in 2011, Analemma is a Demete-Certified Biodynamic® vineyard, winery and living farm located in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. Nestled in the shadow of the Cascade Mountains where Oregon's western maritime climate makes a transition to continental. Analemma's Mosier Hills Estate Vineyard comprises 52 stunning acres within a patchwork of oak forest and grassland where a dramatic mix of rainforest, mountain, and high desert climates combines with rocky, volcanic soils to create truly unique conditions that result in some of Oregon's most distinctive wines. Through Biodynamic farming and conscious winemaking, Analemma seeks for each bottle to convey a true sense of place and time.

What we love...

2018 Analemma Mosier Hills Estate Mencia Mayor

Though Mencia is a red grape commonly found in Galicia, Northwest Spain, it is comparatively rare in the US. Ageing in a mix of large format barrels and concrete egg allows for Mencia's full splendor to be on display, with wild and smoky spice aromas yielding to a ripe core of black fruit.

Pairing Notes: This beguiling Mencia makes a delicious alternative to Pinot Noir for cured meats, cheeses, and anything with mushrooms. It also makes an exciting stand in for Syrah to complement hearty roast meats and creamy risottos.
